What is Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS)?

Broadly known as urogynecology, FPMRS is the treatment of complex pelvic floor disorders, such as urinary and fecal incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

In 2011, the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) officially recognized FPMRS as a board-certifiable subspecialty. In doing so, they acknowledged that care for women with complex pelvic floor disorders required subspecialty training and certification beyond that of a general obstetrician/gynecologist or urologist.

Athena’s doctors are board certified/board eligible, ensuring you receive the most advanced care for your pelvic floor disorders. Request an appointment or call us today at 425-392-8611.
